In Conversation: Visionaries Virgil Abloh and Moved by the Motion with curator Eungie Joo

This evening 's conversation with creative force Virgil Abloh and Moved by the Motion collaborators Tosh Basco, Josh Johnson, Asma Maroof, and Wu Tsang is hosted by SFMOMA Curator of Contemporary Art Eungie Joo. Abloh is Chief Creative Director and founder of Off-White, and Men’s Artistic Director at Louis Vuitton. Moved by the Motion is a loosely affiliated "band” of interdisciplinary artists creating live performance and film since 2013; it frequently includes Wu Tsang, Tosh Basco, Patrick Belaga, Josh Johnson, Asma Maroof, and Fred Moten.

Virgil Abloh

is an artist, architect, engineer, creative director, artistic director, industrial designer, fashion designer, musician, DJ, and philanthropist. Currently, Abloh is Chief Creative Director and founder of Off-White™ and Men’s Artistic Director at Louis Vuitton.

Moved by the Motion

Moved by the Motion is a loosely affiliated "band” of interdisciplinary artists that creates live performance and film since 2013. The group most frequently includes filmmaker Wu Tsang, performance artist Tosh Basco, experimental cellist Patrick Belaga, choreographer Josh Johnson, electronic musician Asma Maroof, and poet Fred Moten. Recent collaborators include Tapiwa Svosve, Kandis Williams, Ahya Simone, Kelsey Lu, Edward George & Dhanveer Brar, and the performers of the Schauspielhaus Zurich ensemble, where Moved by the Motion is currently in residence.

Eungie Joo

is curator of contemporary art at SFMOMA, where she organized SOFT POWER, a group exhibition about the role of artists as citizens and social actors. Her project with Charles Gaines is on view now. She will present New Work: Wu Tsang this October.
